Khartoum government agrees to give Darfur position of vice president.

The Sudanese government announced Tuesday it has agreed to give the province of Darfur, western Sudan, Vice President of the Republic, but the rebels rejected this troubled region has to offer.

The news agency quoted the Sudanese official adviser to Sudanese President Omar al-Bashir and the Darfur official as saying "The government and Darfur agreed to give the position of vice president until the end of the period the election period that does not guarantee the Permanent Constitution of the Sudan." The election period ends in 2015.

He added that "Sudan needs to re-formulate and want a solution to the Darfur crisis in the framework of what remains of Sudan after the ninth of July that the solution contains a fair sharing of wealth, power and security arrangements."

The Movement for me MM and signed a peace agreement with Khartoum in Abuja in 2006, but returned to the fighting in December, accusing the government of not implementing the terms of this Agreement.

Since then, the fighting wing of MM as well as the JEM and the SLA faction led by Abdel Wahid Nur of the Sudan Liberation Army.

The United Nations estimates that the conflict in Darfur, behind the 300 000 people, while the Sudanese government says that the number is ten thousand only.
